April has been a month for Big Trout and some Great Redfishing too! We have been catching all of our fish using artificial baits such as Berkley Gulp jerk shads and Gulp shrimp. The trout have been averaging 20- 25 inches, with some up to 28 inches! Redfish have been tailing on the flats and cruising the shorelines making for some great sight fishing on light tackle and fly! We have been averaging 10 to 12 fish per trip with some 15+ fish days too! Book your trip today! (407)733-3223
Spring is here and the fishing has been great since getting some southerly winds rising the water into the Mosquito Lagoon! Redfish, Speckled Trout, and a few black drum have been eating a variety of baits! In my 20 years of fishing the Mosquito Lagoon I have never seen so many shrimp leaping out of the water while poling the flats. Redfish are tailing in a foot of water or less gorging on shrimp and are tailing aggressively during the first 3 to 4 hours of the morning! My charter today caught 14 redfish and 5 trout before 10:30! I only have 3 days open in the next 4 weeks, so book early!!! Book your trip today! (407)733-3223!
The fishing has gotten even better since we have gotten a couple strong cold fronts which has cleaned up the water and made sight fishing unbelievable! We have been throwing Berkley Gulp shrimp on jig heads, and even sight casting fish on fly the past couple weeks! Redfish are tailing early in the morning feeding on shrimp and crabs in the shallows, and then later in the day, we have been casting to sand holes and catching redfish, trout, and even a few black drum and flounder. Book your trip today to get in on the hot bite! Most of my days are booked in February, but March is when fishing could get even better! (407)733-3223!
Happy New Year! Fishing has really picked up since we have had a few cold fronts clear up the water in Mosquito Lagoon! Redfish, Trout, and Black Drum have been feeding all throughout the day, and we are seeing fish tailing while feeding on shrimp and crabs. This is some of the most exciting time of year for sight fishing since the water is clear and the fish are on the flats during peak hours of sunlight! After a long summer of hot temps and great fishing it's nice to start getting some cooler weather for a change. With the Holidays approaching so do cooler water temperatures which makes for great fishing all day long! Redfish, trout, and black drum will be feeding on mullet, pinfish, shrimp. and small crabs throughout the early morning and into late afternoon. The water clarity should improve with the cooler temps making for some great sight fishing opportunities on sunny days. Come get in on the bite and enjoy some Excellent Fall Fishing on Mosquito Lagoon!
The water levels in the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River are extremely high right now which is making for some excellent fishing along the shorelines! Redfish, trout, black drum, and snook can be caught right now on artificial lures as well as bait. Jigs and soft plastics have been working great for all species, but first thing in the morning it's hard to beat throwing topwater for the first hour or so! For those who like using bait we have been having great success using cut pinfish or mullet fished on the bottom in areas holding schools of mullet. We've had plenty of 15-20 fish days using bait the last few weeks, and Tom Brayman and his wife caught 31 redfish with me last Thursday! The bite is on!!
We have had a great Summer Bite for Redfish, Trout, Black Drum, and even a few Tarpon, and now is the time to fish our spawning Redfish! These Reds can exceed 40 lbs and can be caught on a variety of artificial lures including topwater, swim baits, gold spoons, and live baits. Redfish schools are roaming the deeper edges of flats targeting the schools of mullet throughout the morning and topwater plugs are a top choice. Large Speckled Trout can be found in these same areas and again topwater baits work very well. The best baits for large Black Drum are live shrimp or live blue crabs fished with a weight on the bottom. Book your trip today for some of the best fishing of the year!
